Smith Hulsey & Busey shareholder Earl E. Googe, Jr. recently discussed legislative and case law updates for a statewide association of healthcare risk management and patient safety professionals at their 2024 meeting and educational conference.
The 44th annual Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management & Patient Safety (FSHRMPS) conference was held at the Marriott Tampa Water Street and online from Aug. 15 to 16.
Googe’s panel covered the 2024 Florida legislative session’s impact on healthcare law, including issues such as practitioner recruitment and retention, preventative care, behavioral health, healthcare innovation and the cost of inpatient hospital care. He spoke alongside Tampa attorney Richard Mangan, shareholder and managing partner of Rissman Barrett Hurt Donahue & McLain.
Googe has a deep understanding of healthcare industry regulations, including issues related to licensing, technology and insurance. He’s also experienced in navigating healthcare fraud and abuse matters with the strategic sensitivity these cases demand. As chair of the FSHRMPS Advocacy Committee, Googe helps monitor and support regulatory and legislative actions related to healthcare at the state level.
